Easily one of my top five films! Others may be aghast at my selection, but the ingenuity of the editing -- the classic monsters spliced into an already-finished movie that had no relation to either of them -- the appearances of Naish and Chaney, the juxtaposition of new musical themes with "library pieces" on the score, and half a hundred other ideas and things make this a bona fide classic in my (unwritten) book!
FJA's appearnace is one the great monets in the movie, and possibly the best in the man's cameo-studded career. With his voice heavily reverbed, "Zandor Vorkov" urges him out the car to meet Frankenstein's Monster. Accountant-turned-actor Roger Engel underplays the line beautifully -- it's downright creepy!

ReplyDeleteDon't forget an on-screen appearance by Forry Ackerman! I've heard so many people talk about how bad this movie is, I really need to see it some day!
