The last gasp of the classic Universal monsters, in many ways better than the previous installment (HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN), but in many others a tatty finale. Less a Dracula movie (he dies halfway through) but a showcase for actor Onslow Stevens as the mad medico and how the vampire's influence and power extend beyond the undead grave.
As I've posted on Random Acts of Geekery, sometimes I feel like there was a missing "House" movie, either fitting between House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula, or else after House of Dracula, that would somehow make sense of the continuity before Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, in which the Monster is in thrall to Dracula... but then, there's really no point in trying to resolve the continuity at all at this point, is there?
